Kakishibu and Coptic Binding

Craig and I went to a workshop last weekend to learn about kakishibu and also to learn a non-adhesive binding for bookmaking -- coptic binding.  It was pretty interesting.  Here's what I made.  The cover and endpapers are collaged and over-dyed with kakishibu.  It will darken with age.

Homemade for Christmas

There are a couple of things that I made as Christmas gifts.  The towel is a wrap that I made, and two matching cosmetic bags.  The other is a pillow -- which is homely, I think, but has sentimental value.

My dad made the blocks before he died.  I taught him to quilt years ago!!  Anyway, he got really good at log cabin blocks and wanted to make something different, but the points on things just eluded him, especially since I was trying to teach him over the phone.  Anyway, they are treasures, and I put some of them together to make a pillow for my son, who so loved his grandpa.  It suits my dad's sense of "use it up!" and it also will comfort my son.  So homely pillow, here it is!

Things That Start With the Letter "B"

These are original works of art that Craig made with his gocco printer.  I gave it to him for Christmas a few years ago, and this summer he had some fun experimenting with it -- he let me play too!  For Christmas presents, he made stationary out of some of the prints.  They turned out pretty good!

Ta-da!  I am so happy to have this original pattern completed finally for my miracle baby!  THe butterflies are appliqued.  I drew them myself and appliqued them.
